KENNEL CLUB ACCREDITATION!
The eagle eyed amongst you will have noticed the (rather cumbersome) addition to the website header! Anna is going for one of the most prestigious awards in her field & bidding to become the first trainer/behaviourist in the area to gain the award of a Kennel Club accredited trainer & behaviourist. The award requires a huge amount of work, but will be well worth it. Anna has completed the formative stages enabling her to achieve membership status while she compiles her portfolio & completes 2 research projects prior to final assessment. As a "heads up", assessment requires (obviously) evaluation of teaching as one part of the whole day's "grilling" , so look out for a call for "test dogs" in the future! Read more here
JUNE 2010...
NEW PUPPY OPTION: There are some new changes to Perfect Pawz! Puppy SOS! is a brand new option designed for pre-school pups. Also several services have been streamlined. The website has also been totally revamped, hope you all like it! There are also more changes to come..watch this space!
MAY 2010...
Courses have had a rather quiet start to the year & unfortunately we have had to postpone a few start dates & miss a few classes due to the horrendous weather. I'm glad to say though that we now have full courses again now that the climate is a little fairer! As I type this on the eve of another new course tonight, we are "supposed" to be looking forward to 20 degrees this weekend...hmm we'll see!
Well Friday will be an exciting day as Perfect Pawz! welcomes a new puppy into the fold, a little Border Collie, as yet un-named but a very attractive little guy he is & he will I'm sure be coming to all courses for socialization before he starts formal training. He has already been "ear-marked" for a few promotional duties too, so watch this space...& all at only 8 weeks old!
JANUARY 2010...
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
That's the first time I've written 2010, seems strange doesn't it? How the time has flown since the Millenium, seems like only yesterday! I hope everyone has had a good Xmas & New Year & is surviving this awful cold weather...it's getting tedious now isn't it?! Well the first course of the new year has already succumbed. We were scheduled to go ahead this Wednesday but the snow has put paid to that! We will try again for the following week (13th) & hope things have settled down by then...wish for a melt! At the time of writing, I'm looking out onto a good foot of snow & a heavy laden sky :(
Anyway, New Year is always time for a fesh start isn't it?! Time to iron out those niggling training problems & sort them out once & for all...New Year = New Dog!!!
DECEMBER...
Training School classes have finished for this year now but are rapidly booking up for January - please if you want a place on a course, BOOK NOW. We had the same thing happen last year, a lot of disappointed people who couldn't get on courses, so please don't wait to January!
Still very busy on the private training side. A lot of owners trying to squeeze in training before Xmas to have a less stressful couple of weeks!
OCTOBER/NOVEMBER...
Wow what a busy time this has been! We have had a terrific resposne to our advertising campaign throughout Newcastle & have welcomed a huge number of new clients! One of the most surprising things is the amount of different training/behavioural issues we have seen in different areas.
Of course its now nearing THAT time of year again & we're just winding down at the Training School. We have 2 full training classes at the moment but as usual have cut back to 1 night on the run up to Xmas. Please note that Courses for the New Year are now booking & the Xtra! Courses will be open for booking soon so if you want a place, please book yours soon. NY courses always book faster than the rest of the year for some reason...maybe our pets regress over the festive season!!
SEPTEMBER...
Perfect Pawz! is out & about again at Humshaugh Dog Rescue Show. We are running the Dog Agility Clear Round & judging a Dog Obedience Ring - come & join us!
Humshaugh Dog Rescue Show was a great day out & great weather too - thank goodness!! It was lovely to see Perfect Pawz! friends! We had the Agility Course up all day which was good fun, although quite a few dogs made a good "demolition job" of it! Anna did some judging too, of Junior Handler & Waggiest Tail - never mind Crufts...this was fiercely competitive stuff!!
This month sees Perfect Pawz! being advertised more widely in the Newcastle area - adverts going out in both the Journal & Evening Chronicle - look out for us!
AUGUST...
Thanks to everyone who took part in our Webstar night! The pix are currently being uploaded onto our site
JULY...
Perfect Pawz! is out & about again this month! this time taking part in National Veterinary Nurse Week. We will be at Hadrian Veterinary Practice on Saturday 25th July, we hope to meet lots of Pawz! owners & their dogs...lets hope it doesn't rain!
The Training School Courses continue to be extremely well subscribed with a waiting list for most Courses. Level 2 starts early August with a very good variety of dogs - it is always nice to see the huge improvement in dogs from Level 1 to 2...Level 2 really begins to shape their obedience with distractions present. Agility will soon be scheduled & there are a good number waiting places on this course so watch this space!
Private Training is always very popular over the Summer months. Now is the time to solve those "niggling" issues. We'll give your pet his very own Personal Trainer & solve any training problem you have in a matter of weeks - have a well trained dog by the end of the Summer holidays!
Don't forget everyone who's been to classes - Aug 3rd is Webstar Night! bring your dog at 7.20-8.20pm for photos!
**Profile Pets** - If you've been to our Training School or enjoyed Private Training or had a Behavioural Consultation with us, we'd like to know! We'd like to include profiles of such dogs on the website with a photo & a few lines of what you enjoyed most about the option you took! Just send your photo/few lines to our email address.
JUNE...
Perfect Pawz! Training enjoyed some excellent coverage in the Newcastle Journal to coincide with our launch into the Newcastle area. Initially we are launching the Personal Pawz! Private Training option in this area which we feel will greatly assist dog owners! Perfect Pawz! literature also dropped into most Veterinary Practices in the Newcastle area during this month - you should be able to pick up one of our leaflets & view our client pack in your surgery..if you can't see one please ask the staff why not! or contact us.
We also had an excellent feature in the Hexham Courant. This followed a quick "free for all" amongst Perfect Pawz! clients..."who wants their dog to appear in the Courant?"! Well there was an excellent response needless to say! Murphy, a very photogenic individual from our Perfect Pawz! Level 1 Course was picked! The response from that feature was quite astounding...so much so, 2 Level 1 Courses had to be created to accomodate the demand!
This month also saw the first session of our new Course - Mannerz Pleaz! This was very well attended & all dogs made extremely good progress. It was especially nice to see some dogs & their owners return after a little absence!
